Description
This custom police embroidered patch was designed for the Town of Bethel Police Department in Maine, featuring the town’s circular seal with a scenic lake and pine tree landscape, a bold gold “POLICE” banner across the center, and the town’s 1796 founding year — a classic small-town New England police patch with strong local identity.
Shape & Base: Full circular shape on navy blue twill fabric with a gold yellow merrowed border edge. The circular format features an outer navy ring for town identification text and an inner scenic seal panel, with a gold horizontal banner crossing the center of the seal — a layered compositional structure that gives this small-format patch strong visual organization despite its compact size.
Top Section: “TOWN OF” arches in small navy or white embroidered lettering across the upper outer ring, with “BETHEL” in larger lettering continuing the arc below it — both curving to follow the circular patch contour and identifying the municipality within the outer ring band.
Center: A scenic town seal fills the circular interior field. A gold rectangular banner with “POLICE” embroidered in bold dark lettering crosses the center of the seal horizontally, dividing the scene into an upper and lower landscape zone. Above the banner, a lake or river scene with green pine trees and a blue water body is visible against a light sky background — the classic Maine woodland and water landscape rendered in green, blue, and light thread tones. The founding year “1796” appears within or adjacent to the seal composition, referencing Bethel’s long history as one of Maine’s oldest incorporated towns. Below the banner, additional landscape or base elements complete the scenic seal field.
Bottom Section: The outer ring’s lower arc completes the circular town identification, with any remaining text elements curving along the base of the ring to maintain the clean circular framing around the full patch face.
Embroidery Quality: Despite the compact patch size, the scenic seal achieves good landscape detail — pine trees, water, and sky are distinguishable through color and thread direction variation. The gold “POLICE” banner is the dominant focal element, cleanly rendered with strong contrast against the scenic background. The navy outer ring lettering is legible at small scale. The gold merrowed border provides a clean, durable circular edge finish suited for active police uniform wear.
This design reflects the small-town New England character and founding year heritage Owl Badges brings to custom police department embroidered patches for municipalities across the United States.
