Shape & Base: The badge is die-struck as a shield with rounded lobes at the shoulders and sides, tapering to a rounded base. A large five-point star sits at the center, faceted so each arm splits into beveled planes, and the areas between the arms are pierced right through so the background shows behind them.
Center: At the heart of the star a black enamel ring carries STATE OF across the top and TEXAS across the bottom in gold lettering, framing a gold star set inside a gold laurel wreath. The seal is the only place enamel appears on the badge.
