Description
The Mission Police Department serves the citrus heart of the Rio Grande Valley in Hidalgo County, a city bordering McAllen that gave Texas its famous ruby red grapefruit. Its officer badge carries the city story in sculpted gold: a mission-style building rendered in full relief, beneath a ribbon reading FOUNDED 1908.
Shape and Base: The badge is a silver oval with fine pinstripe rays and cross-hatched accents at the border points. POLICE arcs the crown on a gold band in navy letters, with a silver ribbon beneath it carrying FOUNDED 1908 in black.
Center Design: The centerpiece is a gold sculpted building in the mission style — a bell tower rising at one side, an arched entry, and a low courtyard wall — modeled in dimensional relief with sunburst rays breaking behind the roofline. Set at its base is a blue seal medallion ringed STATE OF TEXAS around a white star.
