Description
The Rio Hondo ISD Police Department protects the campuses of the Rio Hondo Independent School District in Cameron County, deep in the Rio Grande Valley northeast of Harlingen. Its chief badge centers on a Texas map enameled as the state flag, set over a gold star on a silver sunburst field.
Shape and Base: The badge is a silver oval framed by a laurel wreath that runs around the entire rim, with fine rays radiating across its face. RIO HONDO ISD arches across the top on a gold ribbon in black letters, its tails curling down at the shoulders.
Center Design: A large gold five-point star stands behind the center, its points reaching out toward the rim. Over it sits a Texas map filled with the state flag in blue, white, and red enamel, with the word TEXAS struck across it in raised gold serif letters.
Banner Lettering: POLICE crosses a wide gold scroll beneath the map, CHIEF follows on a second scroll, and a small gold panel at the base carries the number 401, all in bold black serif letters.
Tonal Detail: Silver carries the oval, wreath, and ray field while gold takes the star, scrolls, and panel, and the flag map supplies the only color — so the state flag becomes the focal point of a badge that is otherwise purely metal and black lettering.
Finish Quality: Each badge is die-struck in solid metal, plated in two-tone silver and gold, filled with flag enamel at the map and black enamel at the lettering, and fitted with a pin-back and safety clasp. For the county lawman from the same Cameron County courthouse, see the Cameron County Sheriff badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Badges bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named badges for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you make a school district police badge like this Rio Hondo ISD design?
Yes. We make badges for school district police departments of every size, with the district name on the top ribbon and ranks on the scrolls below. The layout, wreath, and star are all adjustable, and you approve every detail on a free proof before tooling.
Can the Texas map be filled with the state flag like this?
Yes. The map is struck as a raised panel and filled with blue, white, and red enamel in the pattern of the state flag, with TEXAS lettered across it in raised gold. The map can also be left in plain metal or filled with a single color.
What does a badge like this cost?
Estimated pricing runs from about $150 each at low quantities down to roughly $50 each at higher volumes, with no setup fee and no mold fee. The wreath rim, star, flag map enamel, and number panel are all included in that range, confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take?
Approximately 8 to 14 weeks after proof approval, covering die tooling, striking in solid metal, two-tone plating, the flag and black enamel fills, and hand-finishing of the wreath and star.
Can each badge carry its own number like the 401 here?
Yes. The base panel can carry an individual badge number for each officer, a rank, or a unit name. Numbers are hard-stamped or enamel-filled per badge, and the CHIEF scroll can read OFFICER, SERGEANT, or any title.
Do we need credentials to order a badge with a real district name on it?
Yes. Badges bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
