Description
This Hartley County Sheriff’s Office patch recreates the department’s shoulder emblem for the Texas Panhandle county on the New Mexico border whose seat is Channing, once the headquarters of the XIT Ranch. A Texas map in flag colors carries red XIT letters and a steer skull wearing a cowboy hat, set on a black arrowhead with an EST 1891 date marking the year the county was organized.
Shape and Border: The patch is cut in the shape of an arrowhead, with a notched tab at the top and sides that taper to a point at the base. A light gray merrowed border runs around the full edge, and a gray arched line separates the top tab from the body.
Center Design: A Texas map fills the center in the colors of the state flag. A silver five-point star outlined in black sits on the blue western section, red XIT letters run across the white upper section, and a longhorn steer skull in gray and white, topped with a gray cowboy hat, spans the white and red sections on the right.
Lettering: SHERIFF sits in the top tab in light gray block letters, and HARTLEY COUNTY arches beneath it in matching letters. EST and 1891 are stacked below the map at the base.
Color and Thread: Black and light gray keep the frame understated, so the red, white, and blue map and the shaded skull and hat stand out at the center.
Finish Quality: Each patch is embroidered with full-coverage stitching on polyester twill, finished with a merrowed edge, and offered with iron-on or sew-on backing. For the metal version from the same department, see the Hartley County Sheriff badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named patches for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a custom patch like this Hartley County Sheriff’s Office design?
Yes. Owl Badges embroiders custom patches to match this Hartley County Sheriff’s Office design, including the steer skull in its cowboy hat and the red XIT letters on the Texas map, or adjusted to your own agency name, colors, and size. You receive a free digital proof before production begins.
Can a patch be cut in an arrowhead shape?
Yes. A patch can be cut to an arrowhead outline with a notched tab at the top, as this design is, and the merrowed border follows the notches down to the point at the base. The top tab is a natural spot for a short word such as SHERIFF.
Can a steer skull with a cowboy hat be stitched on a patch?
Yes. A steer skull can be stitched with gray and black shading and topped with a cowboy hat, as it is here across the white and red sections of the map. Red XIT letters are stitched just above the hat, and the shading keeps both readable against the flag colors.
What does a sheriff patch like this cost?
Estimated pricing starts at about $17 each at 10 pieces and drops to roughly $2 each at 1,000 pieces, with no setup fee. Final pricing depends on size, stitch count, and quantity, and is confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take for a patch like the Hartley County design?
Production typically takes about three to six weeks after proof approval, covering digitizing, embroidery, merrowed edging, and backing. Your proof is confirmed before stitching starts.
Do I need credentials to order a Hartley County Sheriff’s Office patch with the real agency name?
Yes. Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
