Description
This Jim Hogg County Sheriff’s Office patch recreates the department’s shoulder emblem for the South Texas county whose seat is Hebbronville. The county was created from parts of Brooks and Duval counties in 1913, the year stitched beneath the star, and is named for James Stephen Hogg, the first Texas-born governor of the state.
Shape and Border: The patch is a shield with a flat top and rounded upper corners, and its curved sides meet in a point at the base. A gold merrowed border runs around the full edge.
Center Design: A five-point gold star with scrollwork fill, silver edging, and silver ball tips sits on a silver ring, with gold leaf fills along the sides of the ring. At the center of the star, a red ring surrounds a blue disc holding a white star inside a gray wreath. A thin gold stepped outline frames the star and ring against the navy field.
Lettering: SHERIFF arches across the top in large gold block letters. The silver ring reads SHERIFF at the top and DEPT at the bottom in dark thread, the red ring reads THE STATE OF TEXAS in white, EST. 1913 sits beneath the star in silver, and JIM HOGG COUNTY is stitched in gold across two lines at the base.
Color and Thread: Gold thread for the border, lettering, star, and outline stands out against the navy twill, while the red, white, and blue at the center of the star carry the colors of the Texas flag.
Finish Quality: Each patch is embroidered with full-coverage stitching on polyester twill, finished with a merrowed edge, and offered with iron-on or sew-on backing. For a neighboring county design, see the Duval County Sheriff patch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a custom patch like this Jim Hogg County Sheriff’s Office design?
Yes. Owl Badges embroiders custom patches to match this Jim Hogg County Sheriff’s Office design, including the gold scrollwork star, State of Texas center, and stepped gold outline, or adjusted to your own agency name, colors, and size. You receive a free digital proof before production begins.
Can a star badge be stitched with an engraved scrollwork look?
Yes. Fine fill stitching can imitate engraving, as the gold scrollwork across the points of this star does. Silver edging and silver ball tips finish each point the way they appear on a metal badge.
Can a thin outline be stitched behind the star as a frame?
Yes. A single gold line can trace a stepped shape behind the star, as it does here, framing the badge and the EST. 1913 line without covering the navy background.
What does a sheriff patch like this cost?
Estimated pricing starts at about $17 each at 10 pieces and drops to roughly $2 each at 1,000 pieces, with no setup fee. Final pricing depends on size, stitch count, and quantity, and is confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take for a patch like the Jim Hogg County design?
Production typically takes about three to six weeks after proof approval, covering digitizing, embroidery, merrowed edging, and backing. Your proof is confirmed before stitching starts.
Do I need credentials to order a Jim Hogg County Sheriff’s Office patch with the real agency name?
Yes. Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
