Description
This metal badge features the Amarillo Police Department insignia, serving the city of Amarillo, Texas, the seat of Potter County in the Texas Panhandle. It is a round badge struck in polished gold, carrying a motto ring, a spread-wing eagle and waving enamel flags.
Shape & Base: The badge is die-struck as a full disc rather than a star or a shield, which makes it the only round design in this gallery. An outer ring band frames the face, and the field inside it is cut as a radiating sunburst with laurel sprays worked in relief across the lower half.
Center: A blue enamel ring sits at the middle of the badge, carrying THE STATE OF across the top and TEXAS across the bottom in gold lettering around a gold star set in a laurel wreath. Above it a spread-wing eagle crowns the field with its wings reaching toward both edges.
Ring & Banner Lettering: The outer ring carries the motto, with WE SERVE arcing across the top and WITH HONOR across the bottom in black-filled letters, separated by small black stars along both sides. Inside the ring, a gold banner above the seal reads AMARILLO and one below it reads POLICE.
Enamel & Tonal Detail: The United States flag and the Texas flag flank the center as fully modelled waving flags that stand off the face of the badge, with the folds struck into the metal. Blue enamel fills the seal ring, and the rest of the badge is carried in polished gold.
Finish Quality: Die-struck in solid metal with a polished gold plating, hand-finished so the eagle feathering holds definition across its full span and the flag folds keep their shape where the enamel follows the contour. For the other design in this gallery built with waving flags, see the Allen Police badge.
