Description
This metal badge features the Alvin Police Department insignia, serving the city of Alvin, Texas, in Brazoria County south of Houston. It is an oval shield badge struck in polished gold, framed by a laurel wreath and built around a raised Texas map beneath a winged crest.
Shape & Base: The badge is die-struck as an upright oval shield, with a laurel wreath running the full perimeter as its border. Inside that frame the field is cut as a radiating sunburst, and a pair of stylized wings spreads left and right across the upper half beneath the city name.
Center: A large outline of the State of Texas is struck in relief across the middle of the shield. Set on the map is a shield-shaped city seal with rays worked at its head, carrying CITY OF above, ALVIN struck large in the middle, and TEXAS below.
Ring & Banner Lettering: ALVIN arcs across the top rim of the oval in black-filled letters. A gold banner below the map reads POLICE in black fill, while the DEPARTMENT banner beneath it and the TX plate at the base are struck as dark panels carrying light lettering, so the two conventions run on the same badge.
Enamel & Tonal Detail: Color is confined to the lettering and the wings, with the raised map, the wreath border, the sunburst and the city seal all carried in polished gold. That leaves the badge reading through relief with the dark panels at the base providing the only strong contrast.
Finish Quality: Die-struck in solid metal with a polished gold plating, hand-finished so every leaf in the wreath border holds its edge and the fine seal lettering stays legible where it sits on the raised map. For the sheriff office serving the same county, see the Brazoria County Sheriff badge.
