Shape & Base: The badge is die-struck as an upright oval shield framed by a raised rim, with a row of beaded rivet dots running inside the outer edge. The field behind the center star is cut as a radiating sunburst, so fine lines fan outward from the middle toward the rim.
Center: A large five-point star fills the middle of the shield, faceted so each arm splits into beveled planes, with laurel sprays worked in relief above and below it. At its heart a black enamel ring carries THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS in gold lettering around a gold star set in a laurel wreath.
