Description
The Murphy Police Department serves a fast-growing suburb in southeastern Collin County, tucked between Plano, Wylie, and Sachse on the FM 544 corridor northeast of Dallas. Its officer badge brings energy to a classic form: a ring of gold stars around the border and lightning bolts breaking through the rays behind a flag-filled map of Texas.
Shape and Base: The badge is a silver oval bordered by a ring of small gold stars set into the rim. Behind the center emblem, a gold ray field radiates outward with lightning bolts cutting through the rays at intervals — a charged backdrop no other badge in this stretch of the gallery carries.
Center Design: The map of Texas fills the heart of the badge, enameled as the state flag with the white lone star on the blue field, and TEXAS lettered in red across the white stripe. The map sits proud of the ray field so the flag colors read cleanly against the gold.
Banner Lettering: MURPHY crosses the crown on a gold ribbon with flared tails in black block letters, POLICE answers on a broad gold banner below the map, and a small gold scroll flourish closes the base of the oval.
Tonal Detail: Silver holds the oval while gold carries the star ring, rays, lightning, ribbons, and scrollwork, and the flag map supplies the red, white, and blue at dead center — a bright, high-motion badge that still reads as a traditional oval at a glance.
Finish Quality: Each badge is die-struck in solid metal, plated in two-tone silver and gold, filled with hard enamel at the flag map, and fitted with a pin-back and safety clasp. For the county lawman over the same rooftops, see the Collin County Sheriff badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Badges bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named badges for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you strike lightning bolts through the rays like this Murphy design?
Yes. The bolts are cut into the die alongside the ray field, so they strike as crisp raised metal on every badge rather than printed detail. The artwork team can set more or fewer bolts, angle them differently, or swap the motif entirely — rope, laurel, or plain rays — composed on a free proof before tooling.
Can the ring of stars around the border be customized?
Yes. The star count and spacing adjust to your badge size, the stars can strike in silver instead of gold, and the ring can be replaced with a beaded, rope, or plain rim if you prefer a quieter border. The frame is part of the die, so every badge in your order matches exactly.
What does a badge like this cost?
Estimated pricing runs from about $150 each at low quantities down to roughly $50 each at higher volumes, with no setup fee and no mold fee. The enamel flag map, star ring, and lightning ray work are all included in that range, confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take?
Approximately 8 to 14 weeks after proof approval, covering die tooling, striking in solid metal, two-tone plating, the flag enamel fills, and hand-finishing of the star ring and ray detail.
Can the ribbons be re-lettered for our own department?
Yes. MURPHY on the crown ribbon re-letters to your own city, POLICE can read SHERIFF, CONSTABLE, or any agency word, and a rank line can be added above or below the map — all struck from one die so a full department order stays uniform.
Do we need credentials to order a badge with a real city name on it?
Yes. Badges bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
