Description
The Pleasanton Police Department serves the largest city in Atascosa County, a South Texas ranching and oil town on US 281 about thirty-five miles south of San Antonio, known as the birthplace of the cowboy. Its badge is a centennial piece, marking a hundred years of service with the dates 1916 and 2016 struck at its base.
Shape and Base: The badge is an eagle-top shield in an antique gold finish, crowned by a sculpted eagle with wings spread and framed by laurel sprays down both flanks, with sunburst rays behind the center.
Center Design: A full-color seal anchors the shield, lettered THE STATE OF TEXAS in gold around a gold lone star and wreath on a deep blue field. Below it, the United States and Texas flags cross in enamel at the base of the shield.
