Description
This Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office patch recreates the department’s shoulder emblem for the Rio Grande Valley county on the Mexican border whose seat is Edinburg, part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission metro area. A ball-tipped star ringed by gold leaves fills the domed top, with HIDALGO COUNTY TEXAS stacked below in gold on dark brown.
Shape and Border: The patch is tall and dark brown, with a domed top, straight sides, and a rounded base. A brown merrowed border runs around the full edge, with a gold band just inside it.
Center Design: A round seal sits in the dome, edged by a ring of gold leaves on brown. Inside, a gold disc holds a gold five-point star with ball tips, outlined in brown, and a brown-outlined wreath at the center of the star frames a small gold star. Small leaf sprigs fill the space between the lower points of the star.
Lettering: SHERIFF’S arches across the top of the gold disc and OFFICE runs along its base, both in brown letters. HIDALGO, COUNTY, and TEXAS are stacked on the lower body in large gold block letters.
Color and Thread: The design uses just two colors, dark brown and gold, with brown outlines giving the star, wreath, and leaves their detail.
Finish Quality: Each patch is embroidered with full-coverage stitching on polyester twill, finished with a merrowed edge, and offered with iron-on or sew-on backing. For the metal version from the same department, see the Hidalgo County Sheriff badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named patches for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a custom patch like this Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office design?
Yes. Owl Badges embroiders custom patches to match this Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office design, including the ball-tipped star inside the ring of gold leaves and the stacked county name, or adjusted to your own agency name, colors, and size. You receive a free digital proof before production begins.
Can a patch be made in just two thread colors?
Yes. A patch can be stitched in two colors, as this design uses only dark brown and gold, with brown outlines drawing the details inside the gold star, wreath, and leaves. A limited palette gives a classic look and keeps the design easy to read.
Can a round seal sit in the domed top of a tall patch?
Yes. A tall patch with a domed top can hold a round seal in the dome and lettering in the body below, as the leaf-ringed star sits above HIDALGO COUNTY TEXAS here. The shape leaves room for large, stacked lettering without shrinking the seal.
What does a sheriff patch like this cost?
Estimated pricing starts at about $17 each at 10 pieces and drops to roughly $2 each at 1,000 pieces, with no setup fee. Final pricing depends on size, stitch count, and quantity, and is confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take for a patch like the Hidalgo County design?
Production typically takes about three to six weeks after proof approval, covering digitizing, embroidery, merrowed edging, and backing. Your proof is confirmed before stitching starts.
Do I need credentials to order a Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office patch with the real agency name?
Yes. Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
