This metal badge features the Decatur Police Department insignia, serving the city of Decatur, Texas, the seat of Wise County northwest of Fort Worth. It is an oval badge struck in polished silver with a laurel border and sunburst field, built around a sculpted stone courthouse in tonal relief with the city seal set over it, and no enamel anywhere on the piece.

Center: A multi-story stone courthouse fills the middle of the oval in silver relief, with rows of arched windows across its face, wings stepping out to each side and a tall square clock tower rising from the center to the top banner. Set over the lower face of the building, a round seal disc reads CITY OF DECATUR, TEXAS around the top and INCORPORATED IN 1873 around the base, with a small tower emblem at its heart.
Ring & Banner Lettering: POLICE OFFICER arcs across a wide banner at the top of the oval in large black-filled letters, with the banner ends folding down at each side.
