Description
The Rusk Police Department serves the county seat of Cherokee County, a small East Texas city set in the piney woods south of Tyler. Its officer badge centers on a Texas map enameled in the colors of the state flag, with a large gold star standing over it on a silver sunburst oval.
Shape and Base: The badge is a silver oval with a raised rim, laurel sprays climbing the lower sides, and fine rays fanning across its face. POLICE OFFICER arches across the top on a broad gold ribbon in black block letters, its tails folding down at the shoulders.
Center Design: A Texas map spans the width of the oval, filled with blue, white, and red enamel in the pattern of the state flag. Over it rises a polished gold five-point star with faceted points, set slightly off center so the flag colors show on every side.
Banner Lettering: CITY OF RUSK crosses a curved gold ribbon beneath the map, POLICE follows on a second gold ribbon, and a small gold panel at the base carries the number 123, all in bold black letters.
Tonal Detail: Silver carries the oval, laurel, and rays while gold takes the ribbons, star, and panel, and the flag map supplies the only color — a patriotic badge where the state flag and star share the center.
Finish Quality: Each badge is die-struck in solid metal, plated in two-tone silver and gold, filled with flag enamel at the map and black enamel at the lettering, and fitted with a pin-back and safety clasp. For the county lawman from the same Cherokee County courthouse, see the Cherokee County Sheriff badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Badges bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named badges for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you set a star over a flag map like this Rusk badge?
Yes. In a star-over-map layout the map is struck as a raised panel and filled with flag enamel, and a separate polished star is layered on top so the colors frame it on every side. The star can be gold, silver, or enamel-filled, and you approve the placement on a free proof before tooling.
Why use a faceted star instead of a flat one?
Faceted points are struck with angled planes that catch light from every direction, so the star reads as three-dimensional against the flat enamel map. A flat or pebbled star is also available for a quieter look.
What does a badge like this cost?
Estimated pricing runs from about $150 each at low quantities down to roughly $50 each at higher volumes, with no setup fee and no mold fee. The flag map enamel, faceted star, laurel sprays, and number panel are all included in that range, confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take?
Approximately 8 to 14 weeks after proof approval, covering die tooling, striking in solid metal, two-tone plating, the flag and black enamel fills, and hand-finishing of the star facets and laurel.
Can each badge carry its own number like the 123 here?
Yes. The base panel can carry an individual badge number for every officer, or a rank or unit name instead. The POLICE OFFICER ribbon re-letters to SERGEANT, CHIEF, or any title, and CITY OF RUSK re-letters to your own city.
Do we need credentials to order a badge with a real city name on it?
Yes. Badges bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
