Description
This Smith County Sheriff’s Office patch recreates the office’s shoulder emblem for the county whose seat is Tyler, its largest city. Separated from the Nacogdoches District in July 1846, the county is named for James Smith, a general during the Texas Revolution. A faceted gold star overlapping a green laurel wreath fills the center of this navy shield.
Shape and Border: The patch is a shield with an arched top, rounded upper corners, and sides that taper to a point at the base, finished with a gold merrowed edge.
Center Design: A large gold five-point star, stitched in two shades so each point looks faceted, fills the middle of the shield. Behind it, a green laurel wreath opens at the top and crosses at the base, and the star’s points reach across and past its branches.
Lettering: SHERIFF runs across the top in large gold serif letters, with SMITH COUNTY arched in smaller gold serif letters beneath it. TEXAS sits across the base in matching gold serif letters.
Color and Thread: Gold on navy gives the patch a classic, easy-to-read look, while the green wreath adds a single accent color around the star.
Finish Quality: Each patch is embroidered with full-coverage stitching on polyester twill, finished with a merrowed edge, and offered with iron-on or sew-on backing. For a department in the same county, see the Smith County Constable badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named patches for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a custom patch like this Smith County Sheriff’s Office design?
Yes. Owl Badges embroiders custom patches to match this Smith County Sheriff’s Office design, including the two-tone star, open laurel wreath, and serif lettering, or adjusted to your own agency name, colors, and size. You receive a free digital proof before production begins.
Can a wreath be left open at the top so the star rises through it?
Yes. The green laurel wreath on this design opens at the top and crosses at the base, so the top point of the gold star rises through the gap while its other points reach past the branches.
Is Smith County the same as Deaf Smith County?
No. Smith County, with its seat at Tyler, is named for James Smith, a general during the Texas Revolution. Deaf Smith County is a separate Panhandle county with its seat at Hereford, named for Erastus Smith, a Texas Revolution scout known as Deaf Smith.
What does a sheriff patch like this cost?
Estimated pricing starts at about $17 each at 10 pieces and drops to roughly $2 each at 1,000 pieces, with no setup fee. Final pricing depends on size, stitch count, and quantity, and is confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take for a patch like the Smith County design?
Production typically takes about three to six weeks after proof approval, covering digitizing, embroidery, merrowed edging, and backing. Your proof is confirmed before stitching starts.
Do I need credentials to order a Smith County Sheriff’s Office patch with the real agency name?
Yes. Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
