Description
This Starr County Sheriff’s Department patch recreates the department’s shoulder emblem for the Rio Grande border county whose seat is Rio Grande City. Created in 1848, the county is named for James Harper Starr, who served as secretary of the treasury of the Republic of Texas. A gold star seal fills the domed top of this tall dark brown patch, worked entirely in brown and gold.
Shape and Border: The patch is tall, with a domed top, straight sides, and a rounded base, framed by a gold border band inside a dark brown merrowed edge.
Center Design: A round seal sits in the dome, its outer band filled with gold leaf sprays on brown. Inside, a gold disc holds a gold five-point star with ball tips, outlined in brown, and at the star’s center a rope-style ring surrounds a wreath and a small gold star on brown. Small leaf sprigs fill the space between the lower points.
Lettering: SHERIFF’S arches across the top of the gold disc and DEPT. sits at its base, both in brown letters. STARR, COUNTY, and TEXAS are stacked below the seal in large gold block letters outlined in brown.
Color and Thread: Only two thread colors are used, with brown outlines on the gold star, rope ring, and leaves carrying all of the detail.
Finish Quality: Each patch is embroidered with full-coverage stitching on polyester twill, finished with a merrowed edge, and offered with iron-on or sew-on backing. For a department in the same county, see the Starr County Constable badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named patches for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
