Description
The New Hampshire State Police is the statewide law enforcement division of the New Hampshire Department of Safety, headquartered in Concord. This gold eagle-topped shield badge is shown in the Sergeant rank and carries a full-color New Hampshire state seal across its face.
Shape & Base: The badge is a gold shield that widens through the middle and tapers to a pointed base. A small spread-winged eagle perches at the very top, and green laurel branches curve up both sides of the face. The gold die-struck frame surrounds a large enamel scene that fills the body of the shield.
Center: A full-color enamel scene dominates the shield, showing the New Hampshire state seal image: the frigate Raleigh riding on blue water with a red-and-black hull, a yellow-orange sunrise glowing behind it, and a granite shoreline at the left, all set beneath a pale sky.
Ring & Banner Lettering: A gold ribbon near the top reads STATE POLICE in blue block letters, and a blue enamel arched band below it reads DEPT OF SAFETY in white. Across the lower body a blue enamel banner reads NEW HAMPSHIRE in white, and a gold ribbon tab beneath it reads SERGEANT in black.
Enamel Detail: This badge carries a heavy, full-color enamel face. Blues fill the water and the lettering banners, greens the laurel branches, and warm yellows and reds the sunrise and the ship, giving the seal scene depth and contrast against the polished gold frame.
Finish Quality: The badge is finished in polished gold with a full-color enamel scene, the die-struck relief giving depth to the eagle, the laurel branches, and the shield frame. It pairs naturally with other gold eagle-topped state badges in the gallery, such as the Arkansas State Police badge.
