Description
This Dawson County Sheriff’s Office patch recreates the department’s shoulder emblem for the West Texas county whose seat is Lamesa. A gold ball-tip star with a STATE OF TEXAS center sits beneath crossed U.S. and Texas flags on a black shield edged in tan.
Shape and Border: The patch is a black shield with a nearly flat top and rounded upper corners, and its straight sides taper to a point at the base. A tan merrowed border runs around the full edge.
Center Design: A large gold five-point star fills the middle of the shield, each point ending in a round ball tip. Its center holds a red ring around a small blue disc with a white star, framed by a thin green ring. Behind the top point of the star, a U.S. flag and a Texas flag cross on gold staffs, each topped with a gold ball finial.
Lettering: SHERIFF runs across the top of the shield in tan block letters. DAWSON runs along the left edge and COUNTY along the right, also in tan, and STATE OF and TEXAS are stitched in gold on the red ring at the center of the star.
Color and Thread: Tan frames the patch and spells out the lettering on the black field, while the gold star anchors the center. The red, white, and blue of the two flags and the red, blue, and green of the star center add the brightest color.
Finish Quality: Each patch is embroidered with full-coverage stitching on polyester twill, finished with a merrowed edge, and offered with iron-on or sew-on backing. For a neighboring county design, see the Borden County Sheriff badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named patches for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a custom patch like this Dawson County Sheriff’s Office design?
Yes. Owl Badges embroiders custom patches to match this Dawson County Sheriff’s Office design, including the crossed flags behind the ball-tip star, or adjusted to your own agency name, colors, and size. You receive a free digital proof before production begins.
Can two flags be crossed behind a star on a patch?
Yes. Two flags can be stitched on crossed staffs behind a star or seal, as the U.S. and Texas flags are here, with the stripes, stars, and color fields in separate thread colors. Either flag can be swapped for a state, city, or service flag.
Can the county name run down the sides of a patch?
Yes. Lettering can follow the left and right edges of a shield, as DAWSON and COUNTY do here, which leaves the top for a title like SHERIFF and keeps the middle open for a star or seal.
What does a sheriff patch like this cost?
Estimated pricing starts at about $17 each at 10 pieces and drops to roughly $2 each at 1,000 pieces, with no setup fee. Final pricing depends on size, stitch count, and quantity, and is confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take for a patch like the Dawson County design?
Production typically takes about three to six weeks after proof approval, covering digitizing, embroidery, merrowed edging, and backing. Your proof is confirmed before stitching starts.
Do I need credentials to order a Dawson County Sheriff’s Office patch with the real agency name?
Yes. Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
