Description
This metal badge features the Bangs Police Department insignia, serving the city of Bangs, Texas, in Brown County in the central part of the state. It is an oval shield badge struck in polished gold, with a navy enamel field behind a large faceted star.
Shape & Base: The badge is die-struck as an upright oval shield with a stepped rim. Navy blue enamel fills the upper half of the oval as a solid field, and fluted ribbing runs across the lower half, so the badge reads as color above and worked metal below.
Center: A large five-point star spans the middle of the shield, faceted so each arm splits into beveled planes that catch light along a central ridge. At its heart a blue enamel ring carries THE STATE OF TEXAS in gold lettering around a gold star set in a laurel wreath.
Ring & Banner Lettering: OFFICER arcs across the top rim of the oval in black-filled letters, following the curve above the enamel field. Two gold banners cross the lower half, the upper reading BANGS POLICE and the lower reading TX, both lettered in black fill.
Enamel & Tonal Detail: Navy carries the field behind the star and blue returns in the seal ring at its center, which are the only two places enamel appears. Gold is left to the star, the banners, the fluting and the rim, with black used only as lettering fill.
Finish Quality: Die-struck in solid metal with a polished gold plating, hand-finished so each facet on the star holds a sharp line where it meets the next and the navy field cures level around the star arms. For the sheriff office serving the same county, see the Brown County Sheriff badge.
