Description
This Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office patch recreates the department’s shoulder emblem for the South Texas county whose seat is Alice. Created from Nueces County in 1911, the county is named for Judge James B. Wells Jr., a South Texas lawyer and political leader. A round department seal sits over a blue Texas map on a dark brown shield.
Shape and Border: The patch is a shield with a flat top and rounded upper corners, and its curved sides meet in a point at the base. A gold merrowed border runs around the full edge.
Center Design: A blue Texas map outlined in red fills the middle of the shield. Over it sits a round seal with a gold rim, a brown ring, and a thin gold inner ring around a blue center disc. A gold five-point star fills the disc.
Lettering: JIM WELLS arches across the top in large gold block letters. The brown ring of the seal reads SHERIFF’S at the top and DEPARTMENT at the bottom in gold, and the letters T, E, X, A, and S are spaced around the star in gold.
Color and Thread: Gold thread for the border, lettering, seal rims, and star stands out against the brown twill, while the red and blue of the Texas map add the colors of the state flag.
Finish Quality: Each patch is embroidered with full-coverage stitching on polyester twill, finished with a merrowed edge, and offered with iron-on or sew-on backing. For the metal version from the same department, see the Jim Wells County Sheriff badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named patches for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a custom patch like this Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office design?
Yes. Owl Badges embroiders custom patches to match this Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office design, including the round seal over the red-outlined blue Texas map, or adjusted to your own agency name, colors, and size. You receive a free digital proof before production begins.
Can a state map be stitched with a contrasting edge color?
Yes. A contrasting edge keeps the map shape crisp, as the red outline does around the blue Texas map here. The red edge also separates the blue fill from the dark brown twill around it.
Can a seal ring be stitched to match the background color?
Yes. The ring of a seal can match the field, as the brown ring does here, with gold rims and gold SHERIFF’S and DEPARTMENT lettering so the seal stands out without adding another thread color.
What does a sheriff patch like this cost?
Estimated pricing starts at about $17 each at 10 pieces and drops to roughly $2 each at 1,000 pieces, with no setup fee. Final pricing depends on size, stitch count, and quantity, and is confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take for a patch like the Jim Wells County design?
Production typically takes about three to six weeks after proof approval, covering digitizing, embroidery, merrowed edging, and backing. Your proof is confirmed before stitching starts.
Do I need credentials to order a Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office patch with the real agency name?
Yes. Patches bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
