Description
The Selma Police Department serves a small city northeast of San Antonio along Interstate 35, set mostly in Bexar County between Schertz and Live Oak. Its badge is a classic circle-star, with a gold star set inside a polished silver ring lettered for the department and a full-color state seal at its center.
Shape and Base: The badge is a round silver ring with a raised polished edge. SELMA POLICE arches across the top of the ring and ESTABLISHED 1847 runs along the bottom, both in bold black serif letters, with a small scroll ornament at each side.
Center Design: A gold five-point star fills the ring, its five points touching the inner edge. At its heart sits a full-color seal with a blue enamel field lettered THE STATE OF TEXAS in gold, framing a silver star inside a green enamel wreath.
Banner Lettering: DEPARTMENT crosses a small gold ribbon over the upper star points in bold black serif letters, completing the line SELMA POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Tonal Detail: Silver carries the ring while gold takes the star and ribbon, and the blue and green seal enamel supplies the only color — a traditional circle-star with a bright, full-color center.
Finish Quality: Each badge is die-struck in solid metal, plated in two-tone silver and gold, filled with blue, green, and black enamel, and fitted with a pin-back and safety clasp. For the county lawman from the same Bexar County courthouse, see the Bexar County Sheriff badge.

🛡 Authorized Purchase & Credential Verification
Badges bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers must provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. We do not sell agency-named badges for personal use.
Custom and fictional designs — for example, a made-up department like “Town of Western Hope Police” — are welcome, as are designs where you change the agency or department name to your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you make a circle-star badge like this Selma design?
Yes. The ring-and-star layout is one of the oldest lawman designs, with the star struck inside a round ring so its points touch the inner edge. The ring carries the department name and a founding line, and you approve the proportions on a free proof before tooling.
Can the seal at the center be in full color like this?
Yes. The center seal can be filled with multiple enamel colors, such as the blue field and green wreath shown, or kept in a single color or bright metal. Each color is set in its own recess so the edges stay crisp.
What does a badge like this cost?
Estimated pricing runs from about $150 each at low quantities down to roughly $50 each at higher volumes, with no setup fee and no mold fee. The silver ring, gold star, full-color seal, and ribbon are all included in that range, confirmed with a free quote.
How long does production take?
Approximately 8 to 14 weeks after proof approval, covering die tooling, striking in solid metal, two-tone plating, the blue, green, and black enamel fills, and hand-finishing of the star points and ring.
Can the ring carry a different founding year or motto?
Yes. The bottom of the ring can carry any founding year, a motto, or the state name, and the top re-letters to your own city and agency. The DEPARTMENT ribbon can read a rank instead.
Do we need credentials to order a badge with a real city name on it?
Yes. Badges bearing a real agency or department name are sold only to that agency or its authorized representatives. Law enforcement and public-safety buyers provide proof of occupation, valid credentials, or an authorized purchasing letter before production begins. Fictional or fully customized designs with your own name are welcome without that step.
